Project description:
One of the main challenges facing modern educational systems is the disparity in the school achievement of students, i.e. the significant and long-term differences in school achievement between different groups of students and educational institutions. In order to reduce disparities in school achievement, it is not enough to know what influences students’ achievement in general at the population level, but also how the role of different achievement factors differs between individual students, groups of students and schools. This project will develop an integrated model of school achievement, which will help to reveal major disparities in school achievement, identify student achievement profiles and clarify specific factors of achievement in different student subgroups. Based on this model we will develop a prototype for the learning analytics tool NO-GAP designed to monitor and analyse disparities in school achievement at a national, regional, or school level. Developers of educational technologies and educational policy makers will be able to use the prototype for the development of a fully functioning analytical tool and this way facilitate data-driven approaches in the education management structures and schools.
